Who is RICK DUNN?
WHERE I COME FROM
As a lifelong resident of Grayson County, I strive to continue the long Dunn family tradition of serving our community and taking care of the families in our area. My grandfather, Russell Dunn, began his law practice in Grayson County in 1937. My father, Jim Dunn, began his local law practice in 1968.
25 years ago, I married the love of my life, Elizabeth. She began her career in education as a teacher and is currently an intermediate school counselor. She is certified as a Public Administrator in Texas and Oklahoma. We have three beautiful children: Jarrett (23), Ansley (21), and Kaden (19). Carrying on the tradition, all three currently attend Texas A&M University. I have three siblings: Mike, Sheri Casey, and Laura Saur.
Since 2017, I have appeared in excess of 534 criminal cases in both County Courts 1 and 2, and in the 15th, 59th, and 397th Judicial District Courts.
I have prosecuted and defended hundreds of cases involving probation revocation hearings.
Since 2006, I have completed in excess of 170 hours of continuing legal education in the area of criminal law. I am also a member of the Grayson County Recovery Court Program.
A THRIVING CAREER
After graduating from Sherman High School in 1983, I attended Texas A&M University where I studied Political Science and received my degree in 1987. From there, it was off to law school at the Oklahoma City School of Law where I received my law degree in 1992. My long career in the legal environment began as an Assistant Grayson County Attorney where I served from 1993 to 1998. From 1998-2006 I practiced civil law with the well-known law firms of Cowles & Thompson and Cooper & Scully in Dallas, Texas. I have now been operating my own local private practice as a small business owner since 2006, focusing on criminal and family law matters.
